The brief:

Convert an existing building into a photographic studio PLUS a living space.
The client wanted a particularly high spec. space that maximized every
available square foot.

Another company had already begun the work. However, the client decided to terminate their contract because the firm was not working quickly enough or demonstrating the level of knowledge and skill the project required.

The project was already 2 weeks behind the client’s timing schedule, which required the installation to be completed within 12-14 weeks.

Our approach:

Our first objective was to rectify any mistakes made by the previous contractor including the removal of a concrete sub floor. Once this was removed we then installed the drainage, electrical and plumbing infrastructure.

It quickly became clear to us that the existing design did not optimize the layout
of the building or the available space. We rethought the approach, presented new
plans to our client, and began the improved arrangement that included a much
larger open plan kitchen on the ground floor and approximately 6-7sqm of additional space. We constructed a contemporary stainless steel mezzanine
and the floor was treated with a bespoke polished concrete finish.

Finally, to meet the need for maximizing usable space, we constructed several unique storage solutions throughout the premise.
